Gothenburg has been changed from an industrial complex producing Volvo cars, to a hub of leading edge design with warehouses and buildings in previously run-down areas transformed into art-galleries, Michelin starred restaurants and coffee shops.  This is a city that welcomes visitors.  If your language skills are limited to English, there is no issue here.

1. The centre of fishing for the west-coast of Sweden offers an abundance of fresh fish and other seafood.  Visit Feskekôrka ( the fish church) fish market.

2. But cuisine is not limited to seafood.  There are diverse dining possibilities from Thai and Ethiopian to gourmet hot dogsl. Visit Saluhallen ( the Market Hall) with 40+ restaurants and delis.

3. Looking for something different? Visit Puta Madre, it offers great cocktails and superb use of the abundant local seafood in its own version of classic Mexican dishes.  The restaurant is themed in homage to a Mexican brothel madam!

4. For shopping, stroll down Avenyn (Kungsportsavenyen) which is Gothenburg’s main boulevard. The Notdic Konstmuseum at one end and at the opposite end is the oldest part of Gothenburg, still surrounded by a moat
